TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Tift Regional Medical Center receives a national award that could bring more patients to the hospital.

The Tift Regional Joint Replacement and Spine Care Center helps patients overcome pain and restore mobility after a joint replacement or a spinal injury.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield gives a blue distinction award for centers that deliver the best care to patients.

"We have to work at it continuously. It takes a team. It's sort of like an orchestra, a lot of players involved. People who get the patients ready for the surgery, the surgical procedure itself, the immediate post care and then the recovery," said Dr. James Scott.

23 hospitals in Georgia received the award.

Tift Regional is the only one in Southwest Georgia.
