CUTHBERT, GA (WALB) -

South Georgia first responders had a chance to freshen up their driving skills.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office is holding driving simulator training and inviting others to take part.

It is run by the local government risk management services.

There was similar training at the Edison Police Department last week.

Officials say it's important for first responders to practice dealing with obstacles most of us don't see everyday.

"Sometimes you go kind of fast depending on what the call is and you aren't paying attention of your surroundings and your surroundings may cause you to take your life and some other lives that you don't want to take," said Captain Anthony Wright.

The simulator training will be held Wednesday and Thursday of this week and next week.

It will be held at the Sheriff's office, 216 Recreation Camp Road in Cuthbert.

You can call the office at (229) 732-2525 if you are interested.
