ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany City Commissioner said a recent wave of convenience store armed robberies shows Albany Police needs to hire more officers and put on them on the streets.
City Commissioner Tommie Postell said the Albany Police Department has close to 20 vacancies for officers right now.
He said more officers visible around the community are needed to prevent more of these violent armed robberies and similar crimes.
"We got them in cars riding, but that's not what we needed. We need somebody, the visibility of that person can actually see a policeman," said Postell.
Police say witnesses helped identify the suspects, and lead to the capture.
