TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

More restaurants and apartments are coming soon to downtown Tifton.

Three new restaurants will be added to main street. Apartments will double the amount of residents that already live downtown. 

The newest restaurant, 41 and Main, has been open for 6 months and already made over one million dollars in sales.

You can see why people and businesses are flocking to the area.

Business owners are looking forward to what this expansion could mean for their sales as well. 

Downtown Tifton has grown drastically in just a short time. 

There is already 210 apartments downtown and more than 15 restaurants. 

The future of downtown Tifton look bright thanks to developers.

A total of 40 apartments and 3 restaurants will soon be added.

The apartments will be renovated in an old warehouse building near the corner of Tift avenue and 2nd street. 

The development of the city has made residents and business owners proud of the way the community has grown. 

"Other communities could probably take a page from the business here in Tifton. Anytime you support South Georgia, you support everyone," said Bill Posey, owner of Tifton Drugs.

The Merchant's Association has been focused on the economic development.

It started the 20 year plan 2 years ago to ensure steady growth by conducting many different kinds of research about the spending and eating habits of Tifton citizens.

This way, city officials are listening to the community and giving them what they are asking for and sales are booming.
