ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Two children were seriously injured following a hit-and-run wreck.

The wreck happened at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday on the corner of Gillionville Road and Whisperwood Street.

According to officials, 28-year-old Jecoby Hardrick Sr. was driving a compact car east on Gillionville Rd. 2-year-old Jecoby Hardrick Jr. and LeRen Hardrick, 4, were in the vehicle at the time.

A sedan entered onto Gillionville Rd. and stopped in the central turn lane.

Hardrick attempted to pass a slower moving vehicle and struck the sedan in the rear. He then continued down Gillionville Rd. and turned back around to pass the crash scene.

Witnesses say they noticed that the two children in the vehicle were not restrained properly.

Hardrick returned home to call his mother, who took the two children to the hospital.

Police officials later made contact with Hardrick, determined he was impaired, and asked him to take a blood test. He refused the blood test and was treated for his injuries.

Both children were later flown to a hospital in Macon for treatment of their injuries.

Jecoby Hardrick Jr. suffered a lacerated spleen and facial injuries. LeRen Hardrick suffered a bruised lung, concussion, and facial injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle had complaints of injury and was later treated.

Jecoby Hardrick Sr. was transported to the Dougherty Co. Jail and charged with DUI less safe, two counts of endangering a child under 14 by DUI, two felony counts of serious injury by a vehicle, hit and run with injury, failure to report an accident, failure to maintain lane, and expired vehicle registration.
