ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the second year now, WALB is partnering with the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia.
Research shows that one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Early detection is critical, so Buddy Check 10 encourages viewers to call someone they know on the 10th of each month to remind them to do a self exam.
Last year, with 120 runners, WALB raised $10,000 and that was used to pay for mammograms for women across the region.
Buddy Check 10K is Saturday, October 15.
The one mile fun run (or walk) begins at 8:00 a.m. Pets are welcome for the one mile run.
The 5K and the 10K trail runs start at 8:30.
Don't worry if you haven't registered. Anyone who didn't register on Friday will be able to on Saturday, before the races begin.
Participants are asked to remember to either bring a cash or a check for registration.
