DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - The President of the Money Tree Lending Company of Georgia testified Thursday as a lawsuit against the owners of the bankrupt company continued in Albany Federal Court.
Derek Martin testified in the lawsuit against him and most of his Bainbridge family.
Investors claim Martin was leasing individual locations for the Money Tree businesses through a sub-leasing third company to drive up profits for the family while the business was failing.
Martin testified he thought the lease prices were fair, though records showed he raised the rent on many locations five years in a row.
The suit is expected to continue into next week.
