ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A new program in Albany gives students with a disability the chance to go to college.
The Leveraging Education for Advancement Program is beginning registration for it's second semester.
The new program at Albany Technical College was funded by a 2.5 million dollar federal grant from the US Department of Education.
The goal of the program is to allow more students to be included in college life and meet their potential.
"But because they have skills, we believe that this is a wonderful opportunity for the students to have a college experience but will also get a credential certificate that will lead to employment," said Regina Watts, Disability Services Coordinator.
The LEAP program already has one student enrolled.
They are now accepting applications for the spring semester.
