COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - The Colquitt County landfill's transfer station is now back open.
County residents can drop off all construction, demolition and inert waste once again.
The transfer station had been closed since March after a fire destroyed the facility.
The city of Moultrie helped with the county's waste after the fire.
"We've gotten a lot of calls from people who have asked us when it's going to open. They're holding materials until it opens because they don't want to drive out of town. So, hopefully that will relieve them a little bit and let them use a local transfer station," said Colquitt County Administrator Chaz Cannon.
They have still not determined the exact cause of the fire.
Insurance covered the loss of the building, loss of revenue and operational costs.
The transfer station is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
