TIFTON, GA (WALB) - South Georgia hospitals are dealing with an influx of hurricane evacuees.
Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton is taking in seven patients.
Four will go to Cook Medical center in Adel.
Other hospitals in the region will treat 25 to 30 patients from Camden and Glynn counties.
"The R-C-H system was invented because of a hurricane years ago for the coastal evacuation. Since then we've been in a lot of planning in our communication, our plans, our activities so it's pretty much second nature now they way we're all together and we plan," said TRMC Emergency Management Coordinator Eddie Senkbeil.
Some staff members volunteered to work work overtime to handle the extra patients.
