Over 30 animals from Savannah are finding shelter here in Southwest Georgia, as Hurricane Matthew threatens the animal control facility there.

As dogs were transported to Douglas this morning, local humane societies met to pick up the animals and take them to shelters in our region.
The Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane society was able to take in six dogs total.

"It was just through networking, and a lot of volunteers that were wanting to make sure that these animals were saved, and not having to be put down.  Because they were having to evacuate all of these animals out of the shelter over in Savannah," said Dawn Blanton.

All of the dogs are up for adoption at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society.
