THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Second Harvest Food Bank is on standby with resources for Hurricane Matthews.
They received a big shipment of water from FEMA this morning.
The warehouse has a aisle of water pallets ready to be shipped out.
They also have blankets, food, and emergency kits at the ready.
The Thomasville branch spent a lot of today loading supplies onto trucks to distribute it to the other three Second Harvest locations here in south Georgia.
"When FEMA calls us in or when GEMA calls us in, we can be mobilized within a matter of hours. "
They say Thomasville is in a unique location because it's close to the gulf and the east coast.
It's only a couple of hours from Jacksonville and other locations along that Florida coast that are bracing for the impact of Matthews.
