ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Families enjoyed a fun night at the skating rink to help a mother in need.
Friends of Mandy Harrell hosted Skate for Mandy on Tuesday night at the Stardust Skate Center.
The single mother of two was diagnosed with a rare inoperable tarlov cyst on her spine earlier this year.
She had to quit work and will eventually need a wheelchair.
"As God has always done, he uses people and that's what he did here. For some reason, Andrea was cutting Ms. Sheryl's hair and God put my name on her heart and it turned into this," said Harrell.
There was also a silent auction.
Organizers hoped to raise $11,000 to help buy a machine to help her get up the stairs.
