TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Property owners in Tifton will save on their insurance thanks to a new fire service rating.
The Tifton Fire Department lowered its insurance services rating from four to three.
The Tifton Fire Department just split from the Tift County Fire Department.
They made improvements in their 9-1-1 service, fire stations and new training programs for firefighters.
Chief Michael Coleman says the residents of Tifton will benefit.
"Taxpayers and property owners, in particular, within in the city of Tifton, their insurance rates on commercial and residential property should improve, " said Coleman.
All insurance companies are different.
The savings will vary depending on which company you use.
These changes should go into effect starting January 1st.
