THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

The Second Harvest food bank could be getting a huge funding grant.

The Williams family in Thomasville challenged the bank to raise $500,000.

If they raise the full amount by December 31st, the Williams family will match it.

The one million dollars would be used to help pay off whats left on the food bank's new facility.

They said this challenge could help bring in new supporters.

"They wanted to help us and help us extend our donor base at the same time. And really establish some good, strong, new, relationships in southwest Georgia. We're seeing that happen as a result of this," said Eliza McCall, Chief Marketing Officer.

With a mortgage paid off, the second harvest food bank staff said they would then be able to use money on buying more bulk food items or fund programs.

You can donate by visiting the Second Harvest Food Bank website or call (229) 244-2678.
