Burger restaurant officially opens its doors in Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

There was a bump in the road for Five Guys as the new restaurant prepared to open its doors in Albany Monday.

Computer issues kept the burger joint from opening at 11 a.m. as was originally planned.

Dozens of people were waiting outside, so restaurant employees brought them in around 11:45 a.m. and gave them each a free meal.

However, Five Guys opened for good Monday afternoon.

The first couple in line for the opening said they appreciated the hospitality. An employee came out to offer the Baggetts a drink while they waited for computer issues to be resolved.

"We already have a pretty high opinion of Five Guys," said Karen Baggett, a resident of Lee County. 

"We talked to the manager of one of the ones in Atlanta and we were amazed at how they keep controls on how they manage their places. We've always had good experiences with Five Guys."

Five Guys is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    Just over a month after Southeastern Grocers announced the closing of its Harveys store in Ocilla, as well as several other Harveys, Bi-Lo, Winn-Dixie and Fresco y Más locations, a Piggly Wiggly owner in Ashburn is now planning to open another store in Ocilla.
