CRISP CO., GA (WALB) -

Authorities warned Crisp and Sumter County residents Monday to beware of a texting scam going around.

Both the Crisp County Sheriff's Office and the Americus Police Department received calls from residents about a scam involving a local bank, the Citizens Bank of Americus.

Residents received texts from the following phone numbers: (844) 325-8004 and (844) 330-9734.

The text asked the recipient to call another number, (901) 290-0593.

When people have called that number, they have been told that their debit card has been locked.

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office and Americus Police Chief Mark Scott are warning people not to respond to the text or give anyone your banking or personal info over the phone.
