DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

The deadline to register to vote for the 2016 election is October 11. One organization is making sure people in Dougherty County don't miss their chance.

The Dougherty County chapter of NAACP hosted a voter registration event near the campus of Albany State Saturday.

They were raising awareness on how close the registration deadline is approaching and reminding people in the community that every vote can make a difference.

The chapter's president says voting should be important to everyone who is of age.

They will also be set up again next Saturday at the old L'Jua's building from 1 to 4 p.m.

For more information on how you can register to vote or join the Dougherty County chapter of NAACP, visit their website here.
