Motorcyclist loses life in fatal wreck

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Police responded to a fatal wreck on Oglethorpe Boulevard.

According to officials, the incident happened on Friday at about 4:50 p.m.

A motorcycle driven by 37-year-old Desmond Harris, Sr. was traveling east on West Oglethorpe Blvd behind a red sedan.

Officials say the red sedan appeared to have changed lanes quickly as both vehicles approached South Harding Street.

Harris lost control of his motorcycle and ran off the road and over the curb. He then reentered the road via South Harding St. and struck a parked vehicle in a car lot, causing him to be thrown from his motorcycle.

Several witnesses stopped at the crash scene and performed CPR until Dougherty Co. EMS officials arrived.

Harris was transported to the Phoebe Emergency Center and was later pronounced deceased.

The red sedan was not on the scene at the time of the wreck, but was located later.

The wreck remains under investigation.
