ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

For Miller Coors, with great beer, comes great responsibility.

Employees headed out in force Friday to help pick up trash around Lake Chehaw and the Flint River in Albany.

Volunteers joined the effort as part of the annual "Great Water Month," put on by Miller Coors.

Thousands of employees across the company take part each year to help improve waterways in communities across the nation.

The goal was to help protect the beer's most important ingredient, water, while serving the community.

"Our brewery has been in the Albany area for over 35 years," said Dedric Perkins, Manager of Technical Services at the Albany Brewery.

"We consider water stewardship vital, not just to the community, but to our operation as well."

The local brewery has participated in the event for seven years.
