ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Another Dougherty County convenience store is robbed at gunpoint, by a man wearing a very distinctive mask.
This is the fifth armed robbery or attempted robbery of a convenience store in Albany and Dougherty County in the last two weeks.
After reviewing surveillance video Investigators are calling this crook the "Skeletor Robber."
Video recorded about 4:20 Friday morning from the Flash Foods in the 2300 block of the Liberty Expressway shows a man in all black, except for that frightening mask. He charges into the store, and tells a woman to "give him all the money."
Dougherty County Police Investigator Steve Mitchum said, "Subject had a handgun and basically robbed the store, took off with an undetermined amount of money."
Police hope that distinctive mask will help identify the armed robber, calling him the Skeletor Robber, because it looks like the character in He Man Cartoons. He was also wearing black Air Jordan shoes.
They hope someone is familiar with what he is wearing. Investigators want to know if he is connected with any of the other recent robberies of convenience stores.
"There is a possibility. We're checking with some of the robberies we've had in this area. Seeing if there are any connections," Mitchum said.
There is also a possibility that this is a copycat, inspired by those recent convenience store robberies. "They'll stop for a while, then we'll periodically will have a rash of these robberies from time to time."
Police say the Skeletor Robber ran out of the store to the west and disappeared in the dark. Now they hope someone in the community will help identify him.
