ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Solar power could be coming to Southwest Georgia.

Senator Freddie Sims invited Coastal Solar Energy Solutions to Albany Thursday to discuss the matter with local farmers.

Representatives from the company said solar energy can cut electric bills dramatically.

They said for many farmers their electric bill towers all of the rest.

They believe solar energy will change that.

"By reducing that bill for them, and we can reduce it anywhere from 30 to, 60, 70, 80 percent, we make it more efficient. And then they own the power that they generate," said Bill Johnston, Coastal Solar senior analyst.

Thursday's presentation was targeted for farmers, but Sims believes all folks in Southwest Georgia could benefit greatly.
