AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -
Hungry people in Americus are getting a little more food this month.
That's because Food Lion has donated close to $3,000 worth of food to the Harvest of Hope Food Pantry.
Employees from the store packed up the food and sent it there on Thursday.
The Harvest of Hope Food Pantry in Americus gives out food to those who need it every Tuesday.
Last month, the food pantry served more than 650 families.
The director of the pantry said that he is very grateful.
"The people for the most part appreciate it. I had a lady some time back come to me and say, of all the hungry people in this world, we are blessed to have this place in Americus, Georgia," explained Harvest of Hope Food Pantry Executive Director Sonny Pinckard.
The donation comes as part of Food Lion's 'The Great Pantry Makeover' during the national Feeding America's Hungry Action month.
