DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - A man who was on a watch list by the U.S. Marshals Service was arrested in Coffee County Tuesday, after he tried to run away from a deputy.
Robert Lee Franklin took off in his car when a deputy tried to stop him, crashed into a tree, and then ran into the woods.
The Sheriff's Office, the State Patrol, and Douglas Police set up a perimeter, and caught Franklin near Ward and Sibbet Streets.
He gave officers a false name, but they positively identified him.
The Marshals Service had information that Franklin might be in South Georgia, where he was hiding from a warrant in West Virginia, for non-compliance with their sex offender law.
Franklin is charged DUI, Reckless Driving and False Identity to Law Enforcement Officer.
He is in the Coffee County jail, and will have to face charges in West Virginia.
