COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) -

An abandoned, mange-infested dog who was found hiding in a tire in Moultrie will soon have a new place to call home.

In July, Junior was found hairless, malnourished and covered in scabies, mites and scabs.

Now, Junior's hair is slowly but surely growing back, and he is no longer afraid to be loved.

An animal rescue group, after hearing about Junior's story, told Dawn Blanton, the Moultrie-Colquitt County Humane Society Executive Director, know that they found him a home in Florida.

"It's great that people are actually looking beyond what he looks like now and just accepting him for what he is," said Blanton.

Junior leaves for his new home in the Sunshine State on Friday.
