ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for its 2016-2017 season.
This year, the symphony is preparing to take concert goers around the world.
The upcoming concerts include pieces from German Romantics and French Impressionists.
This season, the symphony hopes to expand and include surrounding cities that don't have their own orchestra.
"We're growing. And it's exciting with the outreach to the kids, that's the other audience that we really want to focus on because of a younger group," Symphony of Art Co-Chair Lisa Davis said.
But before the concerts begin, the Albany Symphony Orchestra needs the community's support.
The Symphony of Art Fundraiser is set for Thursday, September 29, 2016.
The fundraiser consists of both a silent and live auction with over 75 items.
A number of the items are art pieces that were donated by area artists.
"[The artists] are all very enthusiastic about it. They hope that it goes very well and that we're able to raise a lot of money," Symphony of Art Co-Chair Jim LeVaughn said.
The event begins at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres as well as the silent auction. The live auction begins at 7:00 p.m.
Tickets are $50 and can be bought at the door or by clicking here.
The Symphony of Art Fundraiser will take place at the Doublegate Country Club located on Old Dawson Road.
