ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An overhaul is coming to Albany's Paul Eames Sports Complex.
On Tuesday, city commissioners approved contracting with a firm to start phase one of renovations.
It will include remodeling the four baseball fields and installing new bathrooms, batting cages and club houses.
Three of the fields will have artificial turf added.
Phase two will add tennis courts.
And phase three will include multi-purpose fields for soccer, football and lacrosse.
"Basically it's going to spruce up the park and make it an attractive location for tournament play and travel ball place. We want to bring a lot of people to Albany to come to Paul Eames to play and stay in our hotels and eat in our restaurants," said Albany Recreation & Parks Director Joel Holmes.
City leaders said that the redesign will not disrupt the current uses of the fields.
