THOMAS CO., GA (WALB) -

Five Thomas County Central High School students won awards at a International convention.

The students attended the International Environmental Youth Symposium in Atlanta for two days.

Part of the convention included a written essay category and a presentation category.

The student said they were happy to get the chance to network and learn from prominent members of the scientific community.

"It was really nerve-wracking because I guess if you never really go out of the United States you never really know the level of sciences in other countries," said Eli Kosciw.

This is the second year that the symposium was open to high school students and their teachers.
