Folks are getting ready for the 29th annual Taste of Sumter event in Americus.

There are twenty different restaurants participating, the most since 2005.

North and South Jackson street has been shut down.

All of the restaurants have tents set up and are ready to go.

JJ's Wings and Things opened just four months ago.

The manager says he looks forward to getting the restaurant's name out.

"We expect that business will jump up obviously because there is supposed to be a lot of people coming and they are excited, we are excited and hearing a lot of people are coming so we are hoping it drums up business," said Charles Robinksi.

Even with rain, there were close to 500 people last year.

Organizers are anticipating even more tonight.

The event costs $5 for the general public and $3 for students.

The event wraps up at 9.
