PLAINS, GA (WALB) -

A crowd expected of close to 6,000 people will hit the streets of Plains this weekend.

Saturday is the 20th annual Peanut Festival. The former President Jimmy Carter and his wife will be there throughout the day.

It all kicks off with a 5K run.

This year's parade will feature the US Army Band from Fort Benning, and of course Mr. Peanut himself.

Organizers said there are more vendors than ever before.

They are encouraging everyone to bring chairs and stay for the day.

"It's a fun fun day. It's a day to come and walk through. I mean how many places do you get to go where a former president is walking around town? And he's here from 10 in the morning until all day," said Ruth Sanders, Plains Better Hometown director.

The night will end with a festival dance.
