MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

A historic building in downtown Moultrie was about to be torn down, but now, it has a new purpose.

This building on 1st Street is the new home for Affinity Apparel, a national direct sales uniform provider that's headquartered in Ohio.

The business will bring 35 new jobs, and six new apartment units are located right above the new office space.

Main Street Program Director Amy Johnson said that adding jobs creates incentive for other shops and restaurants to open nearby.

"This property was basically a shell. It was on the agenda with Historic Preservation to be torn down. Developer Hal Carter did purchase it and all the dreams have come true for this building. It's made new again," explained Main Street Director Amy Johnson.

"There's a lot of excitement. It's so convenient. Downtown Moultrie is coming to life, there are so many things happening," said Moultrie City Manager Peter Dillard.

Johnson said that a couple of the apartment units are already rented. If anybody needs more information, they can call the Main Street Office at (229) 890-5455.
