Mentor guilty of child molestation

(Thomas County Sheriff) (Thomas County Sheriff)
THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomas County man pled guilty to child molestation charges Thursday afternoon.

Rico Walker pled guilty today to child molestation.

He will serve 15 years in state prison. After he is released, he will have to register as a sex offender.

Thomas County investigators said he admitted molesting a child for several years.

"The minimum in this case would have been 10 years to serve with a maximum of 30 so he got basically half the time to be served. So we're just glad the DA's office was able to resolve the case without it going to trial," said Investigator Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff's Office.

Rico Walker was arrested in May of 2015, after Thomas County Sheriff's investigators received a complaint from a mother.

Her child provided enough evidence for deputies to question and arrest Walker.

A few years ago, Walker founded a non-profit organization called Relief from the Streets, with a goal to provide positive role models for young men in the community.
