AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - A South Georgian high school engine build team is headed to a national competition.
The Americus Sumter team won the regional championship last year and will head to Las Vegas for the national championship October 30th.
Five students will be judged on their accuracy and speed as they tear down and rebuild an engine.
"I'm excited but I'm really proud of the students, they put forth their best foot and effort. I'm just excited for them to get out there and get a chance to compete and get to show some people around the state what Americus Sumter High School has to offer," said Americus Sumter High School Automotive Teacher Fred Mohl.
The team will hold a bake sale fundraiser at the school on Saturday, October 1st from 10 to 1 p.m.
