PELHAM, GA (WALB) - A new Dollar General will open in Pelham in just a couple of days, and management promises a new and improved format for customers.
The Dollar General is taking over the former Walmart Express store.
Manager Cole Hagen said that the store will bring in a full line of produce, fresh meats and an expanded frozen and dairy section.
The store will also utilize the gas station which will be ready for use 60 to 90 days after the store opens.
Throughout the day, customers pulled into the parking lot asking when the store officially opens.
"The community is very excited. We've already closed down the old location and so they're coming over here, ready to get going in the new one," explained Hagen.
"They're going to get a lot of traffic coming from the schools because the high school and elementary are right down the street. You're going to have kids going by here with parents and go, 'I'm hungry.' They'll stop by and get some stuff. So that will probably help also," said resident Cheryl Katz.
Management hopes to open the story Friday, but the soft opening will be on Saturday.
And they are always accepting applications.
