ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County School Police are now manning the East Albany school crossing where a little boy was killed and three girls were hurt Friday.
A uniformed police officer will now join the regular crossing guard at North Mock Road and Leonard Avenue each morning and afternoon with blue lights flashing in a patrol car.
The officer is arriving early as well, to make sure that no children cross before school opens.
Dougherty County School Police Assistant Chief Mack Green said "Right now we are investigating everything. Just to see what can we come up with to improve everything. I know one of the things is busing the kids from that location over there."
A special bus is transporting most of the Turner Elementary School students who would walk to school through that intersection, to shield their emotions,.and will for the rest of the school year.
