ADEL, GA (WALB) -

 Cook Medical Center in Adel is being awarded the Hospital Safety Award.

 Each year the Georgia Hospital Association recognizes hospitals throughout the state for low numbers of employees hurt on the job. 

The center has over 200 employees. 

Fewer than 10 employees were injured at work last year.

This award showcases the team of employees there makes it a workplace that is safe and enjoyable.

"It validates that we're doing the right things as far as training, providing proper equipment and techniques to avoid injury. So we're very proud of the team and this accomplishment," says Purvis.

Less than ten-percent of workers injured is a requirement to be considered for the award. 

This award is based on the 2015 calendar year.
