ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany organization got a huge check Friday, all thanks to marathon runners. The Albany Marathon Board of Directors donated $25,000 to Willson Hospice House.

All of the proceeds were from the 10th annual race in March.

The money will be used to host milestone events such as birthday parties and weddings for patients.

"Wow, they are so appreciative. We are truly able to make a difference in the last few days of life," said  Executive Director Jennifer Stephens.

Over the last 10 years, the marathon has raised more than $250,000 for the hospice house.

Next year's race will be on March 4.

You can find out to register by visiting the marathon website here.
