ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A man accused of shooting his ex wife in the face was found guilty on Friday.
Artinita Stringer was found guilty of burglary in the 1st degree, aggravated assault, family violence, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
The jury deliberated for 45 minutes.
He will serve 15 years in prison as recidivist, meaning he will not be eligible for parole. He also has 5 years probation.
Albany and Dougherty County Police testified that Stringer surrendered at Albany Police headquarters November 1, 2015, saying that he shot his wife by mistake.
Stringer was also charged with breaking into his wife's home.
Investigators said they were called to the home on Council Drive for a shooting. Debbie Stringer had been shot in the left eye.
Police said Stringer had a temporary protective order ordering him to stay away from his wife.
