AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Tomorrow is national POW/MIA recognition day to honor those who were prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action.
Folks have come from all over to participate in events in Americus throughout the weekend.
The kickoff event will be at the National Prisoner of War Museum tomorrow morning.
It will be followed by a dinner and Heroes Banquet at Georgia Southwestern State University to acknowledge and pay tribute to the POW's and MIA's.
On Saturday organizers will award the family and friends of those missing in action with presidential proclamation medals.
"They want answers and they deserve answers and that's what this is about. We, the American public are working hard. We are advocates is what we are on a day-to-day basis and we are trying to make sure that they get answers," said Jim "MOE" Moyer, the national co-chairman of Honor-Release-Return.
Around 600 people are expected to attend events over the next few days.
Georgia state troopers will be riding around with the group from venue to venue.
