MOULTRIE, GA (WALB) -

Moultrie police are searching for two brazen thieves who stole a backhoe worth close to $40,000.

Police said it happened early Saturday morning at Lasseter Tractor company on Veterans Parkway.

The company's surveillance system showed what looks like two men driving a backhoe off the lot, then loading it onto a semi truck, and driving off.

"It's kind of one of those things where it wouldn't be odd to see somebody out there driving a piece of equipment around," said Moultrie Police Investigator David Jones. "You're on a dealership lot, so it doesn't really raise an eyebrow, until it's missing."

Police believe the tractor trailer was dark maroon or black.

If you have any information, call the Moultrie Police Department.
