Mayor Hubbard paid a visit to Lake Park Elementary School to speak with a group of second graders.

The students are studying different levels of government and the importance of voting.

Mayor Hubbard became the teacher this afternoon and spoke to the students about her duties as mayor.

She talked with them about what she does on a day-to-day basis.

She also answered questions and took pictures with some of the students.

Mayor Hubbard says she likes that the students are being taught about our government at an early age.

"Our young people are our future. It's important, I think, to start them early, instilling in them early the importance of our democracy," says Hubbard.

Students also gave the mayor writings and drawings they had completed in class about their favorite people in history.
