Sylvester police chief resigns

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The Sylvester Police Chief, Robert Wayne Jennings, has resigned.

Jennings sent in a letter of resignation on September 9th.

His last day will be September 23rd.

"I certainly hate to see Chief Jennings leave the department," said Sylvester Mayor  Bill Yearta. "He really brought a high level of professionalism to the department."

The mayor said this resignation was a decision chief made. 

Jennings served as chief for five years, since March 2011.  He has over four decades in law enforcement.
