ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Albany State University launched a new program to build faculty leaders.

The Provost Faculty Fellowship program will identify teachers with leadership potential and allow them to work on key strategic campus initiatives.

Associate Professor of English Dr. Kevin Scott was just chosen to serve as a fellow for the next year.

"I'm really excited to introduce to what I call the new Albany State and the expectation is that this will continue and we'll have a provost fellow every year," said Interim Provost and VP of Academic Affairs Dr. Olufunke Fontenot.

School officials said that the program will help facilitate the consolidation of ASU and Darton State College.
