LEE CO., GA (WALB) -

There's a new effort to help young students in Lee County make friends.

Tuesday evening, Lee County Family Connection officially unveiled three buddy benches at Kinchafoonee Primary School.

They provide a place for students to sit together and talk on the playground.

And teachers said that they are working.

"Positive reaction. I think they're pleased to know that we were able to furnish something like this for them, it's a good concept you know for their students to learn," said LC Family Connection Coordinator Patsy Shirley.

The organization raised $10,000 to buy 11 benches for the primary and elementary schools in Lee County.
