GRADY CO., GA (WALB) -

Grady County investigators say an off-duty Cairo police officer caught a burglar in the act.

Officer Mike Carr was on highway 93 north and saw Arthur Williams pull his car around to the back side of a home.

Carr knew Williams did not live in the area.

He went around back and saw Williams break home's the sliding glass.

The officer held the man at gunpoint until Sheriff's deputies got there.

"That's exactly what Mike Carr did he knew that we might not be able to get there in time to apprehend this guy so he took steps to apprehend him and we thank him for that," said Daniel Singletary, Grady County Sheriff's Office.

Williams was booked into the Grady County Jail charged with Burglary.
