TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A Tifton restaurant is preparing for a national shrimp and grits competition.
The Local Bar and Kitchen will see if their recipe is the best for the southern dish.
Restaurant workers are spending this week packing and getting ready to head to Jekyll Island for Southern Living Magazine's Shrimp and Grits Festival.
The Local won an online vote on social media to compete in the festival, beating out 8 other restaurants in Southwest Georgia.
The owner said that he's thankful for people's support.
"We're fortunate that we have a pretty good following, hopefully we have a pretty solid plate of shrimp and grits," said Owner David Scarbrough.
There will be hundreds of restaurants on Jekyll Island all weekend.
The cooking competition will take place on Sunday, and the winner will be featured in Southern Living Magazine.
