ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

An Albany Gang Unit officer's sharp nose leads to the arrest of an Albany man  for gun and drug possession.

Dontravious Hamilton, 22, was charged with possession of several drugs with intent to distribute, and possession of a gun during the commission of a crime, and by a convicted felon.

A Gang Unit officer approached a car in the Applejax club parking lot on East Broad Avenue early Saturday morning.

He smelled the strong odor of marijuana.

Police said Hamilton admitted owning a backpack found in the car that had marijuana, meth, and spice.

They also found a 9 millimeter pistol under the car seat.

He is being held in the Dougherty County jail.
