LEESBURG, GA (WALB) -

Folks are tuning their bows and getting their gear ready for hunting season.

Bow season starts Saturday.

Backwoods Outdoors was very busy Friday.

People are excited to try out their new bows and get hunting.

If you do plan on going out there are a few things the DNR wants you to know.

This year there are changes to how you log your harvest.

You must log the deer online or by phone within 72 hours.

Even those who are under 16 and do not need a license must log their finds.

Folks at Backwoods remind you to have a safety harness at all times.

They say they are excited for the season and want everyone to be safe.

"Everything is really good we are excited to get things rolling and see what is in store for Backwoods and Leesburg and Albany Georgia this year," said Backwoods Outdoors Dow Technician Cody Smith. "And we're excited to see the pictures that people are bringing in of the deer they have killed."

When you are out hunting make sure you have your drivers license and hunting license on you.

If you've downloaded the Outdoors Georgia app you can show your license right from your phone.

The app also has a list of wildlife management areas that will be open.
