BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) -

Students in Bainbridge got to spend class time looking at classic cars.

Memories Car Club members wanted to do something special for the students and teachers.

Students at Jones Wheat Elementary got to see a '93 Mustang along with many other classics during class.

Students were taken back in time with a hands on history lesson from Memories Car Club in Bainbridge.

Cars were lined up in the parking lot with members of the car club there to answer any questions the students may have.

"They are more engaged with hands on learning instead of just reading from a textbook, they can put their hands on it and learn," said Teacher, Brittany Mathews.

Thursday was about the kids and that's really the message that car club president Denise Webb wanted everyone to know.

"Their grandparents had these old cars and they might not have seen them but I wanted them to know that's memories," said Webb

The teachers also got a surprise today, they put in a supply list of things they still needed for the school year and each received a personalized box.

"Oh I thought it was very awesome, we have a lot of kids that struggle with getting the supplies they need and having the memories club come and donate this for us has been a blessing" said Mathews.

The supplies were donated from local businesses and organizations in Bainbridge, Webb said everyone was so eager to help.

Students will write letters thanking the car club and telling their favorite parts of the lesson.
