Ambassador program helps high school students get involved in politics

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Hundreds of South Georgia high school students are getting a lesson in politics from the Secretary of State.

The goal of the student ambassador program is to get the students engaged in the political process.

Brian Kemp met with over a hundreds students at the Tift Theatre Wednesday.

Kemp created the program to encourage high school students to vote, volunteer and get others excited about the political process. 

More than 800 students are participating in the program.

"Now I have the opportunity and now I get to meet these people, that for the most part, I only get to see on T.V," said Kobe Stringer, senior student ambassador.

The last leg of the program will be at Mercer College in Macon on Thursday.
